Generational Faithfulness

Generational Faithfulness

Where were you in 1988? A cute infant in a crib? A preschooler asking “Why?” A first time homeschooler?

1988 was the year Hawaii got its homeschool law – Chapter 12 Compulsory Attendance Exceptions. Homeschooling was now legal in Hawaii. So began the homeschool movement in our Aloha State.

Fast forward, 10 or so years, and homeschool parents are busy planning and attending homeschool graduations. The graduates are attending college, entering the work force, or joining the military. They marry, start families, and begin raising their children in the Lord. They are making an impact in the community AND many become 2nd generation homeschoolers, educating and discipling their children at home.

Now fast forward to 2025 and those 2nd generation homeschool parents are busy planning homeschool graduations. Their sons and daughters are pursuing their calling, whether it be college, the work force, the military, or the trades. Homeschooling has grown exponentially!

As a first generation homeschooler, I am blessed beyond words to witness homeschooling flourish in Hawaii generation after generation! Dads and moms, continue to persevere as you seek and trust the Lord!

How marvelous and wonderful the goodness of our God. Praise the Lord, “Your faithfulness endures to all generations …” (Psalm 119:90)
